Terms of Use

The fine print.

Last updated: June 2026

useformat is a free tool I make for fun and to be useful. These terms keep things clear and fair for both of us. By using the site, you're agreeing to them. They're written plainly on purpose — no traps.

What useformat is

useformat is a free file-conversion tool. Most conversions run in your browser; a few use a small server. There's no account, no payment required, and no catch. It's offered as-is, for anyone to use.

Use it sensibly

You agree to use useformat lawfully and not to:

Use it to process content you don't have the right to, or for anything illegal.
Attempt to attack, overload, break, or abuse the site or its server, or interfere with anyone else's use of it.
Misuse the bug-report form to send spam, abuse, or anything malicious.

No warranty — it's provided "as is"

useformat is provided free, as-is, with no guarantees. I do my best to make it work well, but I can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that every conversion will be perfect. Always keep your original files. Treat a converted file as a copy, not a replacement, and check the result before relying on it.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, I'm not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of useformat — including, for example, a file that doesn't convert correctly, gets corrupted, or a conversion you weren't happy with. You use the tool at your own risk. Since browser-mode conversions happen entirely on your own device, the result is produced by software running on your machine, not by me.

Availability and changes

This is a personal project. I might change how it works, add or remove formats, take it offline for maintenance, or stop running it entirely, at any time and without notice. I'll try not to be annoying about it.

Supporting the project

Tips via Ko-fi or Buy Me a Coffee are entirely voluntary and non-refundable gifts to support the project. They don't buy any service, guarantee, or special treatment — useformat is free for everyone either way.

Your content

Your files are yours. useformat claims no ownership over anything you convert. In browser mode I never even see your files; in server mode they're deleted right after conversion (see the Privacy Policy).

Third-party services

useformat relies on a few outside services to run — such as Cloudflare (hosting/security), Web3Forms (the bug-report form), and Ko-fi / Buy Me a Coffee (tips). Those services have their own terms, which apply when you interact with them.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, I'll update the date at the top. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
